Second Trimester: What You Can Expect

Corner Cloud Light

The Down Low

I think there is always room for improvement, no matter what we are trying to accomplish. With a little bit of effort and some creative thinking, we can always find ways to make things better. Whether it’s a project at work, a personal goal, or a relationship with someone close to us, there are always ways to improve and make progress.

So let’s focus on what we can do to make things better and take small steps towards achieving our goals. Together, we can accomplish great things and create a brighter future. Ah! The dreaded first trimester has now passed, and you are entering your second. How did those first few weeks go for you? We hear a multitude of different opinions and experiences, but there’s one thing for sure: the second trimester is commonly a hell of a lot better than the first. For many women, the second trimester is actually the easiest trimester of their entire pregnancy. So, let’s focus on the positives! Today, we’ll be doing just that by delving into a few great things that you can expect during this exciting time. (It is important to note that each pregnancy is different.)

You may still be feeling nauseous, but the good news is that during this trimester your pregnancy hormones should balance and be much more under control. This can commonly leave women feeling much more energised and refreshed – “like me again!” Pregnancy is a beautiful phase, so don’t forget to cherish this time when you’re feeling that way. Feeling like you can do more leads to – you guessed it – nesting. Nesting can occur at any time during your pregnancy. It is the overwhelming desire to get your house in order before your little one arrives. Whilst you do have the energy, we highly recommend sorting your baby’s nursery.

Growing

During this trimester, your belly will begin to grow, and you will start to experience your baby moving. If this is your first pregnancy, and you aren’t sure what to expect, many people refer to this feeling as a gentle swirling or fluttering inside their tummy (as early as 17 weeks, and as late as 24). The weight gain and movements can, unfortunately, sometimes come hand in hand with swelling toes and achy backs. But don’t fret. Bring comfort to your pregnancy with our maternity pillows that have been proven to help alleviate those aches and pains experienced. You can use our pillows to support your back throughout all three trimesters and after. Use our twin maternity pillow to caress your back, using the two outward pillows as support for your arms, et voila! Support is given and aches are alleviated. The second trimester is commonly actually where you feel most comfortable, so even the slightest bit of relief will have you feeling worlds apart of different from before.

Last, but most certainly not least, we would love to highlight to you the ways in which you can help make your second trimester even more positive for you. Self-care is never selfish, especially not whilst pregnant. We can recommend eating healthily, ensuring you’re having enough sleep, drinking enough water, talking to your doctor regularly and trying to keep a positive mental attitude. Here at Kinder Valley, we are here for you every step of the way.
